Finance Surgeries

Free events hosted by Cherry Wood Grange providing advice on funding long term care

Cherry Wood Grange Care Home is running two free surgeries on financing care.  The surgeries will take place on 5th September and 11th October 2017.

Nicky Cave an expert in the field from Eldercare Solutions, will be covering topics such as financing long term care, what the state provides, the Care Act and the £72,000 cap on care, tax implications and how to mitigate against inheritance tax and why Power of Attorney is important.

She will also cover the tax implications of decisions relating to care as well as the selling of property.

“Around 140,000 people go into care every year” says Nicky. “Forty three percent of these are self-funders with only 10% of these seeking proper financial advice. There is a great deal of confusion about many elements of the Care Act and our aim is to help clarify the key issues and help allay people’s concerns.”

Cherry Wood Grange Care Home Manager Anna Allen says: “Nicky is a member of an organisation called SOLLA – the Society of Later Life Advisors. Members are specifically qualified to advise on financial issues, including the options for funding care and developing care fees payment plans. Their membership of SOLLA is against very stringent criteria, with annual renewals to ensure they are able to give the best and most up to date advice. We are delighted that she will be with us for the surgeries”.
